THE BEGINNING OF JACKIE O’S
Before the unique restaurant and tap house that is Jackie O’s came to life, it first stood on West Union Street as O'Hooley's Irish Pub. O’Hooley’s came to life in 1995 and held a ten-year reign as one of Athens's most popular Irish brewpubs.
The owner of O’Hooley’s changed the brewpub’s name in honor of his mother, Jackie, after she passed of lung cancer. In 2007, it became the shining gem that is now known as Jackie O's Brewpub!
The original Irish Brewpub first became a central pillar to the community of Athens by focusing on the local economy and using locally inspired and produced products, and Jackie O’s has continued to deliver the same mission in Athens County.
Jackie O’s was developed with the central idea of using sustainable and local food/ ingredients, as well as providing local beer that would only be available in Athens. The Brewpub was also one of the first non-smoking facilities in the state of Ohio to bring more awareness to lung cancer research in honor of the owner’s mother.
The Brewpub eventually expanded into what is known as Jackie O’s Public House Restaurant where they serve incredibly delicious, locally grown food and beer. There is also now a Taproom and Production Brewery facility on the east side of Athens that serves as Jackie O’s secondary location.
Fast forward to today, Jackie O’s has become such an Athens icon for students and alumni everywhere, they are expanding into Columbus in 2022! The brand has become such an iconic piece of Athens that thousands of people travel to eat and drink there each year! If you haven’t been yet, we recommend taking a trip to this Athens gem ASAP.

Pick up a pair of our 16 oz. Jackie O’s pint glasses, a case of some local Jackie O’s beer, and pour yourself a cold glass of Athens beer. Our pint glasses look just like the ones they serve their beer in the restaurant! You’ll feel like you’re at the beautifully lit Brewpub again, just like the good ole days with your Jackie O’s pint glass in hand, sipping that incredible, local beer.
Our Jackie O’s pint glasses can be purchased in sets of two, or as part of a mix and match set of four. You can choose from your favorite current Athens bars like C.I, Tony’s or The Pub, or even from defunct bars like Mr. Bojangles or The Nickelodeon! We also have Ohio University pint glasses available for our mix and match sets.
