A great way to see historic Athens County is to tour the Appalachian hills on the Athens Quilt Barns Tour. On this excursion, you will see over 20 historic barns, each featuring a unique quilt pattern displayed on the front of it. This is a great way to explore the area around Athens and learn more about its history!

This tour provides more than just seeing historic Barns and quilts. Between each stop, you’ll see wildlife, creeks and rivers, fields of flowers, and spectacular overlooks of Athens County. There is so much to see on this tour; choose between the 45-mile Applique Loop, the 45-mile Stitch Loop, or the 55-mile Quilter’s Loop. Regardless of which path you choose, the views will be amazing and you will enjoy another side of Athens. Remember to bring your camera, pack a picnic, and explore!
